We bought a spiffy Art Deco amethyst ring on Topazery. We needed to size it nearly three sizes down - a difficult task with a structural gold ring. Jan and her experts not only sized the ring right, but followed up with us to make sure that everything was satisfactory all through this process. I can't imagine any mall jeweler taking the time and expense to make sure that everything clicked.

Thanks to your help, we had a most romantic train ride Saturday. It rained most of the day, but I assured [her] that the train would run rain or shine and we got dressed up to go. The presentation box you sent is beautiful, but I had to work carefully to disguise the bulge it made in my pocket. However, I was successful at hiding it, so she did not suspect a thing. When we arrived at the station, I gave [her] the wet umbrella and asked her to take it into the waiting room while I fetched the tickets, so I was able to hand the ring over to the maitre d of the train. The rain stopped as soon as the train pulled out. We got a lovely view of the lake as we chugged out of town. The food was excellent, and our table was away from the others, giving us privacy as we enjoyed the meal.

As the train came back towards town, it stopped so we could watch the sunset over the lake. The waitress brought us dessert: I had the cheesecake listed on the menu, but [she] had a large glass of fruit and cream, with a very special garnish on top. Of course, it was the ring. The chef had assured me he would write my message in the icing, but I was left to do the hard work myself. I wiped the cream off the ring and slipped it on her finger. I told her that I got an antique ring because I want to be with her even when she and I are antiques. She asked, "So what are you saying?" I answered, "Will you marry me?"

Her face glowed, she said, "Yes, yes I'll marry you" and the entire car erupted in applause. Apparently [she] was the ONLY one on the car who didn't know a proposal was coming that night. The hostess had told the other passengers as they checked in, but luckily none of them leaked the news to my sweetheart.

She LOVES the ring. She likes the two-tone metal, she loves the elegant detailing, and she enjoys the fact that it has a heritage and doesn't look like anyone else's ring. "It's special, just like you," I told her and she is thrilled with the whole idea.

Thanks again for all your help! You made what could have been a very stressful experience a joy and a pleasure. I will gladly recommend you to my friends. You have certainly made me and my bride-to-be very happy.
